A Limited Life

My life scripture has recently taken on new meaning.

For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.
                              Rom. 8:2 NKJ

I spent most of my life very insecure and desperate for the approval of people around me and my poor choices in life only fed my insecurity.  But Jesus set me free from the futility of people pleasing and He broke the chains that sin had on me.

When we rely only on ourselves for inspiration or motivation, then we have set the limit on our success for it is based solely on our own strength and abilities.  But when we rely on God to take what we can do and add His grace and power to it, we find ourselves in places we never dreamed we could go because now our resources are limitless.

The rules and regulations of religion keep us captive to the limits of our own abilities.  They cause us to measure our goodness in God's eyes by how well we can live by man made standards.

Living according to religion causes us trust in our own works instead of what Jesus has already done.  Self reliance is the opposite of faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus came to set us free from the law.  He is the door to God's grace and mercy.  It is through our belief in Him and our acceptance of His sacrifice on our behalf that we can live freely in God's love.

We are saved by grace and not our own plans, rules, or talents (Eph. 2:8).  God does not measure out only a portion of salvation to us based on our ability to follow a bunch of rules.  He gives us everything included in salvation the moment we accept the work of Christ on the cross.

Quit trying to earn through works what God has already given you.

Live an unlimited life by relying on and trusting in Jesus Christ.
