A Child's View
This weekend I read the book, "Heaven is for Real" and it was great. I am always inspired in some way by the stories people share and this was no exception. I don't want to give away the story but merely share how Colton's story has touched my heart.
I have spent most of my life trying to be what I thought other people wanted me to be and in doing so, I did not know who I really was. God has been patiently showing me who I am and helping me learn to accept myself, faults and all.
In reading's Colton's story, I finally got a picture of what a child-like attitude towards Jesus looks like. In all honesty, I'm not 'there' yet but I am closer than I have ever been.
It's hard to go back to looking at life from a child's viewpoint once you have been scarred by painful life experiences but since Jesus asked us to, then I think it is possible.
And said, "Truly I say to you, unless you repent (change, turn about) and become like little children [trusting, lowly, loving, forgiving], you can never enter the kingdom of heaven [at all]."
Matt. 18:3 Amplified
To a young child, there is no gray, things are either good or bad, fun or painful. There is no in between. The simple faith of a small child's heart is genuine, accepting, and trusting. They believe what they are told, literally.
We should be no different when we approach Jesus.
We don't have to pretend to be someone we are not. We can simply be ourselves. There will be no condemnation and no guilt for our mistakes and weaknesses for the blood of Jesus has removed the stains of our sins. God, who made us in His image, knows us better than we know ourselves. His knowledge of us (good and bad) does not diminish His love for us in any way.
There is no educational requirement or degree necessary to come to God. Simply accept the gifts given to you through Jesus Christ and trust in God's word. This is the only time that something too good to be true is actually true.
Let go of all the bias' that life has jaded you with and put all your trust and hope in Jesus. Come to Him honestly and with an open mind.
A childlike view of God places you in the arms of Christ.
