Constant Companion
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.
Matt. 11:30 Message
Jesus is our constant companion. The more time we spend with Him and the more we share our lives with Him, the more we will understand the freedom He has given us.
We learn to live in the world and not be of it when we keep company with Jesus.
I used to try and fit all my needs and requests into the first 30 minutes of my day until one day while praying, Jesus asked me, "Do you really expect to fit 24 hours of needs and requests in 30 minutes?" I was stunned. It was such a difficult thing for me to comprehend...that Jesus would be with me personally throughout the day.
Oh, I knew what the Bible says about Jesus living with us but that knowledge was in my head and it had not connected to my heart. At first, I tried to talk to Him throughout the day more out of obedience than anything else. I had days I did good and days I did not so good at acknowledging His presence with me.
In case you didn't know this, when you crack a door for Jesus, He will take advantage of the opportunity and come in like the door is wide open.
Jesus moved in like a freight train and patiently taught me about His great love for me. Over time, I have come to rely on His presence and companionship to help me through all kinds of situations. In living aware of His presence with me, I have discovered the joy of living in response to His love instead of living by allegiance.
I am free to live each day not by a set of rules but with and in response to the greatest love the world will ever know - Jesus Christ.
Life is not always easy and fun but no matter what goes on around us, we have a constant companion who will help us. His love alone is all we need to go through and overcome.
Live with Jesus in response to His love for you and you will live God first.
