The Repair Man

I have been overwhelmed with gratitude this last week over the restoration of my relationship with my oldest daughter and her husband.  For many years, we have struggled and a few of those years we did not even speak.  My heart was broken and the wound would not heal.  I grieved for my daughter.  I could not see a way for us to overcome the past and renew our relationship.  I clung to Jesus' promise in Isaiah 61 to heal the brokenhearted and He has faithfully done just that.   After all, He is the greatest "Repair Man."

Jesus started dealing with me three years ago about the things I was thinking or doing that were preventing His work to restore the relationship.  The first thing I had to do was decide how badly did I want a relationship with them.  The answer - I was desperate to overcome the hurt and restore the love.  With my heart determined to work on my part in the break down, Jesus challenged me to forgive my daughter completely.

As I thought about all the things Jesus has forgiven me for, I realized I had no business withholding unforgiveness from my daughter.  The Bible clearly states that if we do not forgive others then we will not be forgiven.  I wanted to forgive but the wounds cut deep.  In response, Jesus showed me His wounds and how deeply He was hurt.  So I did it.  I made the choice to forgive and forget so that I could resume a relationship with my daughter.

From that moment on, Jesus has worked in me and helped me to let go of the baggage that was weighing me down and distorting my thoughts about the whole situation.

Today I want to encourage you to not give up when you are facing anything that seems impossible.  God not only has the ability to help you overcome, He is also willing to help you do it.  The first step is surrendering to Him all your thoughts and beliefs about the whole situation asking Him to help you see things from His perspective.

But Jesus looked at them and said, "With men this is impossible, but all things are possible with God."
                              Matt. 19:26 Amplified

Keep your heart open to Jesus who is the best "Repair Man" in the business.
