Balance
For those of you who regularly follow here, I am sorry for not posting much this week. God has been teaching me much about balance and trust. As I have shifted and moved things around in my life, I found again the great peace and joy that come from relying on God alone.
We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name. May Your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in You.
Psalm 33:20-22 NIV
Like most people, I can get out of balance very easily. My motto used to be, "If a little is good then a whole lot is better." This kind of thinking got me in a lot of trouble and skewed my ability to maintain healthy relationships (even the one with myself).
Over the years, God has taught me how to keep things balanced. I have learned to follow that inner sense of peace and well being. Every now and then though I get sideways and have to reposition things again.
Balance in all areas of life is necessary for our growth and well being.
When an area of our life is out of balance, our whole being is thrown out of whack. Our perception of the world around us is altered and our response to external stimuli is exaggerated. I have a friend who says that her life is like a narrow road and that every thing and every one can not fit on it. She relies on God to help her choose who and what will walk that road with her. It is how she keeps her life balanced and healthy.
Without balance, we get off track and off center. We lose sight of what is really important, what matters, and what is true.
When we are trying to find balance in our lives it is important to keep our emotions out of the process. We have to rely on what we know to be true and right and good. We have to rely on God's word.
Keeping our trust in God and listening to Him is essential for having a balanced life.
