Living Hope
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1 Peter 1:3 NIV
Jesus is our living hope. He has risen from the grave and He is alive today. And although He never changes, His great love for us compels us to make changes in our lives.
Changing is part of living, part of growing.
We cannot keep doing things the same way we always have and expect anything in our lives to change. Through our hope in Jesus, every day is a chance for us to start over and do things differently.
Accepting the new birth we have in Christ is the beginning of a whole new adventure. With the Holy Spirit as our constant companion, who leads us in all the ways of God, we can live differently today than we did yesterday.
We can make better choices to fill our lives with things that are good, pure, and holy.
We can break out of the ruts that have kept us in the same cycle of doubt, insecurity and misery and do something new, something that encourages life to grow.
Our hope in Christ to help us make any necessary changes is alive and active because He is alive and active. By spending time alone with Him we continue to feed and nourish our hope and our hearts.
Change can seem intimidating and impossible but Jesus reminds us that "all things are possible with God" (Matt. 19:26). Putting our trust in this promise strengthens our hope and enables us step away from old things and embrace the new.
Sometimes God challenges us to break away from the old way of doing things so we can learn something new.
Whatever you are facing today, take it to Jesus. Spend some time alone with Him and let your heart do the talking. Let your hope be cemented to His promises and not what you see. Enjoy His sweet companionship and make any changes He asks you to.
Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ we have living hope. It is up to us to live it.
