Power in Silence
Have you ever found yourself at a loss for words? Unsure of how to express yourself? I have and through those times I learned to appreciate the power of silence.
It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
Lam. 3:26 NIV
There are times when our words get in the way of us receiving God's response. We can get so caught up in expressing ourselves that we forget to let God have time to speak.
When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself. Enter the silence. Bow in prayer. Don't ask questions: wait for hope to appear.
Lam. 3:28-29 Message
I have found hope in the quiet moments and you can too. Instead of using your time to talk to everyone around you about your issue or concern, take it to God and sit silently with Him until you find hope in that situation.
It may take more than one encounter with Him to get the whole thing sorted out but don't stop seeking Him. In Lamentations 3:25 we have the promise that God is good to those who wait on Him.
Silence can seem awkward at first but keep at it. There is great beauty and joy and strength to be found when one waits in silence before God. No other lover will speak more beautiful or honoring words to you than your heavenly Father.
Learn to recognize the times when no words are needed.
Learn to appreciate and receive the power of silence.
Don't worry if you nod off (I'm not joking - there are times you fall asleep). Quieting our hearts and minds takes practice. God knows and understands this and as we learn to sit with Him, we will hear Him with our hearts.
Seek the power of God in silence.
