The Fence
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Psalm 37:12 NIV
Our trust in God creates the pasture of life in which we live. It becomes the "fence" that surrounds our life and keeps us safe. The size of our life depends on the size of our trust in God. The more we trust, the more room we have to live in.
If our trust is little, we'll find ourselves living in a stall in the barn. Penned in by our own anxieties, there will be no room to grow and play.
If our trust is big then we can enjoy the freedom of life in a large pasture with lots of room in which to explore and enjoy. We will live confidently in God's ability to handle anything that happens.
Our reliance on God will cause what looks to be overwhelming to become manageable. It will enable us to do more than we thought we could better than we though we could. It will increase the size of the pasture in which we live and allow us to grow and learn new things.
Trusting in God sets the boundaries of our life that the enemy cannot get through. Notice that this verse says we will live in a safe place. Nothing can defeat us if our trust is in God because He will protect and defend us.
Even though you may not understand why certain things happen, trust Him.
No matter what your emotions may be screaming at you, trust Him.
Despite what people around you are saying, trust Him.
Do not rely on your own understanding of anything, trust Him.
When we trust in ourselves we limit our lives to only what we are able to do. But when we put our trust in God, we live by His power with full access to all of His resources.
Enlarge the fence line of your life by trusting in God alone.
