A New Wardrobe

This is an updated post from the first year of the blog.  God has given us a whole new wardrobe to wear and enjoy.  Through out all your old stuff and start wearing the new.

Don't lie to one another. You're done with that old life. It's like a filthy set of ill-fitting clothes you've stripped off and put in the fire. Now you're dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator, with his label on it. All the old fashions are now obsolete. Words like Jewish and non-Jewish, religious and irreligious, insider and outsider, uncivilized and uncouth, slave and free, mean nothing. From now on everyone is defined by Christ, everyone is included in Christ.

               So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe that God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline.  Be even tempered,  content with second place, quick to forgive an offense.  Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you.   And regardless of what else you put on wear love.  It's your basic all-purpose garment.  Never be without it.

Love is the one item you can put on that goes with anything.  It will not fade, rip, get pills, cling to you in all the wrong places, or show underwear lines.  Love does not unravel or show too much skin.  It is one size fits all but looks absolutely stunning on every person who wears it.  Love looks fantastic in stiletto heels and pointy toe flats as well as flip flops and tennis shoes.  Things are kicked into high gear when love is worn with cowboy boots.

Flattering every hair type and skin and eye color combination, love will bring out all your best features.  Love will outshine the biggest diamond at the party and always leaves a lasting impression.  Better than the smell of your favorite perfume, love lingers for years in the memories of those you give it to. 

No matter where you go in life, love is always the most elegant vehicle.  It is faster than a speeding bullet and sleeker than an Italian sports car.  Love will not leave you for another.  It doesn't matter where you go with love, it always goes home with you.

When layered with your favorite coat, love will keep you warm and toasty.  Stirred in a steaming mug of hot chocolate or coffee, love is the ideal mixer as it never sours or goes bad and it does not have a bitter after taste.   It is a fat free, all natural sweetener that has no calories.

Love keeps you cool in summer and just right during the labile spring and fall temperatures.  It is the best refuge in any type of weather and will keep you safe during storms.

Love never goes out of style.

And let me not forget to mention that in addition to being the best garment you will ever wear, love is the best gift you can give.  Love can be given in a pair of shoes to a homeless person, a meal to someone without family, or a free two hour getaway for a mom with small children.  It can be given in a hug, a pat on the back, a smile, and even a word of encouragement.
