Eternal Treasures
I saw this part of scripture this morning and I cannot stop thinking about how awesome it is...
...we can't round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit.
Romans 5:4 Message
There is no way we can hold on to all that God has given us!
I am not talking about material things here. I am referring to the eternal things. The things that touch your heart. The way God treats us is full of eternal treasures that we can neither contain or fully grasp.
What comes to my mind is the old saying, "People may forget the gifts you give them but they will never forget how you make them feel." The impression we leave with others comes from our ability to receive all that God has given us.
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. There is no law against these things!
Gal. 5:22-23 NLT
When I stop and think about how much of these God has so generously given to me I am overwhelmed and I love the idea that I cannot contain them all.
There have been many times in my life that I have behaved badly and treated people poorly but God has always been good, kind, merciful, and loving. He always treats me better than I deserve.
Spend some time today thinking about the eternal treasures in your life and tell God thanks. Then show Him your gratittude by sharing them with others.
