Useless

Worry is a useless thing and yet so many of us allow it to consume our thoughts, waste our time, and steal our joy.  The end of chapter 6 in the book of Matthew (vs. 25-34) teaches us that worrying does no good.

There is no benefit to worrying.  It cannot change the circumstances we are facing and it most definitely does not strengthen us.  In fact, worrying depletes our power and renders us feeble and weak by convincing us that there is no hope.  Worry is a lie from the devil.

Most people say they cannot help it that they worry.  That is not true.  The Bible teaches us that we can take our every thought captive and choose to think on something different.  We do not have to let worry dominate our thoughts and lives.

So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own.  Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.
                              Matthew 6:34 Amplified

We have been given today and today only.  We cannot undo yesterday and tomorrow is not here - all we have is today.  We are not called to live with worry, we are called to live with Jesus Christ.  Just as Jesus slept in the stern of the boat while His disciples worried about the storm they were sure would overtake them, we are able to remain full of peace during the tough times in our life.

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.
                              1 Peter 5:7 Amplified

God cares about us.  He cares so much that He wants us to give to Him all our cares, concerns and worries and in exchange He will give us His peace and joy.  It does not make sense to our minds how this kind of transaction works but it does.  I promise.  So stop trying to keep your worry all to yourself.  Trade it in for peace.  Instead of trying to do everything yourself, let God help you.

Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thansgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.  And God's peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
                              Phil. 4:6-7 Amplified

You can refuse to worry and accept instead the promises of God to look out for you and take care you.  You can surrender to the One who is strong enough and big enough to handle anything you are concerned about.

The battle for peace has already been won.  You are guaranteed to be the winner if you do not quit or give in to worry.

The more you practice refusing to accept worry from the devil the more room you will have for peace from God.
