The Choices We Make

God has given us the ability to think and make decisions. The choices we make matter. They reveal what is truly in our hearts because they direct our actions.

I call heaven and earth to witness this day against you that I have set before you life and death, the blessings and the curses; therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live. And may love the Lord your God, obey His voice, and cling to Him. For He is your life and the length of your days, that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 Amplified

These two verses remind us that choosing life has three parts. One that we love God. Two that we obey Him and three that we cling to Him.

Our love for God is reflected in our choices.

Do we put Him first in our life?

Do we guard our relationship with Him from the influences of this world?

Do we try to live in obedience to God or do we quickly give in to our own desires?

Do we ask God for help and guidance then wait for His answer?

The life of blessing that God has promised us is ours when the decisions we make are rooted and grounded in our love for Him and not in our love for ourselves.

Live today God first.
