An Offering

Sacrifice and offering You do not desire, nor have You delight in them; You have given me the capacity to hear and obey [Your law, a more valuable service than] burnt offerings and sin offerings [which] You do not require.
Psalm 40:6 Amplified

The true simplicity of life for every follower of Jesus Christ is found in this verse. Do you see it?

Through Christ we can come boldly to the throne of God and discuss with Him whatever is on our minds and in our hearts. In other words, we can pray.

We also have been given free choice and the ability to make good decisions. Free choice can be good if we do the right things and unpleasant if if we don't.

So what does this verse tell us about prayer and free choice and how are they part of a simple life? Well the verse is telling us that God has given us the capacity to pray and obey Him.

Pray and obey.

Our greatest offering to God is our obedience to Him.

Pray and obey.

Life stays simple when we talk to God about everything, listen to Him and do what He says without arguing.

Pray and obey.

Romans 12:1 tells us to offer our lives to God. Through our prayers and obedience we make our lives the greatest offering to God, we keep things simple, and we imitate Christ.

Pray and obey.

God does not ask us to do anything that He has not enabled us to do. So knowing that, we can live each day with God - talking to Him, listening to Him and obeying Him.

Pray and obey.

Our simple and powerful offering.
