Mine Forever

Several years ago as I was on my way to church, I had one of those benchmark moments that changed my relationship with God and myself.  All my life prior to that moment I struggled with accepting and liking myself.  I would think and say negative things to myself all the time.  Of course, I don't have to tell you how hard that made life.  Anyways, I was listening to a song and I could not even tell you if I'd heard it prior to that morning but that day I really heard the lyrics and my heart exploded. 

What were the words that opened this door to my self acceptance?

                              I am yours and you are Mine.

God spoke those words directly to my heart.  He claimed me!  I am His.  I am loved, accepted and desired.  Even in my weakest moments and when I had done the most foolish of things, God wanted me and counted me as His very own.

               My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart, He is mine forever.
                              Psalm 73:26 NLT

Not only does God claim you, He considers you already to be His favorite child.  But the good news does not stop there.  You can claim Him, too.   God is yours even in your toughest moments.  He is your strength, peace, joy, wisdom, protector, defender, redeemer... you get the picture? 

God is yours.

God is committed passionately to you and with this come your ability to claim Him as well.  He will be the strength of your heart and He will never leave your side.  

God is forever yours.  Remind yourself frequently - "God is mine.  He is on my side and will work things out for my benefit.  God is for me."

As you face the challenges of today, remember that not only are you God's but that He is yours.  Forever.
