New Day
For most of my life the thoughts that greeted me each morning were reminders of what I had done wrong the day before. These critical self thoughts fed my insecurity and kept me chained to my weaknesses. That is not how God wants us to live. He has given us today as a gift but lets us choose what we fill it with up. Filling today up with yesterday does not help us prepare for our God given destiny.
The Bible tells us to let go of the past and to not worry about the future. We are to live each day to the best of our ability and rely on God to do what we cannot do. It is that simple. However, our minds and emotions will try to get us to bring yesterday into today.
The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” The LORD is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD.
Lamentations 3:22-26 NLT
Everyday is a new day. Through our faith in Jesus Christ we can start each day fresh. We can find great strength and peace every day by keeping our hope in the LORD and not in our own abilities. God does not think about what happened yesterday. His eyes are focused on your future.
God is not concerned about your past because He has plans for your future that He is working on (Jer. 29:11). He is not looking back at yesterday, He is looking ahead. God always looks ahead. He knows what is coming up and He wants to get us ready for it but we cannot grow beyond what we bring with us from yesterday.
Let go of the baggage of yesterday.
Growth today can only begin when we refuse to live in yesterday. Today is a new day full of new ideas, new opportunities, and new possibilities. How sweet it is to start fresh each morning!
Light is sweet; how pleasant to see a new day dawning.
Ecclesiastes 11:7 NLT
Keep the past behind you and live each day in the refreshing sweetness of God's light.
