Different Kind of Life
I saw this verse a couple of days ago and it has stuck with me.
God is to us a God of deliverances and salvation; and to God the Lord belongs escape from death [setting us free].
Psalm 68:20 Amplified
Our faith in Jesus Christ is the doorway to us receiving and living all the promises of God. He delivers us from sickness and sin. He puts us on the highway of holiness and enables us to do so much more than we ever thought possible.
The biggest thing Jesus has delivered me is from is myself. I used to live chained to my past - all my hurts and all my sins. I was tyrannized by negative self thoughts and so desperately lonely. But Jesus changed all of that. He took away my sins (along with their guilt and shame) and He removed the hurts I still carried. I had no idea who I was because of all the masks I had worn and He taught me how to be me.
In seeking to know who Jesus is, we will discover who we truly are. We learn self acceptance in this process and find ourselves living in a freedom we never knew we lacked.
We are restored to a place of right standing with God and made holy through Christ. All of our scars and wounds - mentally, physically, and spiritually - have been healed by His blood.
Sin no longer has dominion in our lives. The Holy Spirit is now our Commander in Chief. He is the new sheriff in town and He is undefeatable. We have the power and the wisdom to say 'no' to sin and 'yes' to Christ. We say 'no more' to our old way of living that will only result in death so that we can learn how to live like Christ and escape death's sting and the horror of eternal separation from God.
Instead of just wishing for things in our lives to change, Jesus enables us to make better choices so that our lives actually do change.
From time to time we have to remind ourselves of all that Jesus has done for us, how He has helped us grow beyond our past, taught us the true meaning of love, and freed us to reach our full potential and live an abundant much more life.
As we explore Christ and ourselves, we unearth hidden treasures like love, joy, peace and freedom.
How has your life changed since you met Jesus?
