Freed By Grace
Grace is a gift given to us by God that enables us to live godly lives. The Apostle Paul knew how valuable grace would be in our lives. Every letter he wrote began with the prayer that the recipients would recognize and receive this powerful gift.
Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
Romans 6:14 NLT
This same verse in the Amplified says:
For sin shall not [any longer] exert dominion over you, since now you are not under Law [as slaves], but under grace [as subjects of God's favor and mercy].
Grace is the power of God in our lives that we are given when we declare our faith in Jesus Christ. It is by God's grace that we are able to make choices to do the right thing and to stick with that decision. We no longer have to rely on our abilities alone. As believers in Christ, sin does not control us any more because God has given us His grace so we can resist it.
Sin has a way of holding us prisoner. It convinces us that we cannot get away from it and that there is no use in "trying" to be good because we will always mess up. In fact, many people refuse to come to God because they think they have to overcome sin by themselves and they can't seem to do it. This is where grace sets us free.
God's grace says, "Yes, I know you are not strong enough to resist the control of sin all the time so I have given you a way to stay closer to Me than your sin. I have provided the strength you need to live free from the tyranny of sin through My Son, Jesus Christ."
The Bible says there is no temptation given to us that we cannot resist with God's help. Grace is that help. Grace allows us to do things we never thought we could do. It empowers us to live in the freedom of Christ as opposed to the chains of sin.
Sin cannot control anyone who chooses to rely on God's grace for help.
By the grace of God we can live free from the guilt and condemnation that sin leaves behind.
By the grace of God we can freely receive His mercy.
By the grace of God we can live freely with Him.
We are set free from sin by God's grace.
