The Same Spirit
We are all uniquely made in the image of God, each one with our own gifts and talents. One sings, one dances, one is strong, another is joyful, one is good with numbers and another has an eye for business. God has blessed us all with a distinct set of abilities but all our individuality has been given to us by one Spirit.
Now there are distinctive varieties and distributions of endowments (gifts, extraordinary powers distinguishing certain Christians, due to the power of divine grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit) and they vary, but the [Holy] Spirit remains the same.
1 Cor. 12:4 Amplified
The Holy Spirit of God lives in us and He endows us all with varying powers and gifts but He Himself never changes. God's Spirit is the same in all of us but He has chosen to reveal Himself through us in different ways.
Many years ago, I got a vision of a forest of trees. No two trees were exactly the same - some short, some tall, some thick, some skinny. There were some with flowers and some with fruit. Some trees had branches way up high and others down low. Their leaves were all different too. But each tree had a purpose and each tree was made specifically to be able to accomplish that purpose. Some trees provided food, others shelter, others gave protection and still others provided shade. One tree alone cannot do what all of them could do together.
The same thing is true in the body of Christ. Each of us was made for a specific purpose. We were not made to compete with each other but to complement each other. God wants us to use the gifts we have been given to help others and reveal Him to the world around us.
Today, let's celebrate the power of God that lives in us by using our talents to help others without being critical. Do what you're good at and enjoy yourself. Thank God for what He has enabled you to do and don't ever put yourself down. You are, after all, the dwelling place of God.
