Never Fails
God has never failed to give me a word to stand on when I am struggling with something. The way He brings the right verse at the perfect time always amazes me. Today's verse is one that He recently used and "surprise" it goes along with our study of God's presence. We are so blessed to have God's undivided attention!
I wait quietly before my God, for my victory comes from Him.
Psalm 62:1 NLT
There are so many benefits for us when we make an effort to spend time with God and victory is one of them. I had been fretting over an issue and God used this verse to remind me that the situation will work out just fine. He is in control and His favor will bring the victory.
I have found that when I don't know how to respond to something if I will wait before God, He will give me guidance. In His presence, I can see things more clearly and I can hear Him better. Some people are not comfortable with silence and I have to admit it was a learned taste for me but if you keep doing it even if it lasts only a few minutes at a time, you not only get more comfortable with it but you also begin to crave it.
Silence is hard for "type A" people like me. I always thought I had to be doing something in order to receive approval or be good enough but that is not true with God. He is not as impressed with our actions as much as He is our heart. God wants to spend time with us and just like any other relationship we have, He wants His turn to talk and be heard.
Another reason silence can be hard for people is because we are so focused on our shortcomings that we refuse to accept the truth that God still wants us. When we try to spend a few quiet moments with God thoughts of all our faults and failures will attack us in order to prevent us from receiving the healing and life that result from spending time with God.
As I learned to appreciate these personal moments with God, He revealed the depth of His love for me despite my sin. His commitment to me has never failed and because of His unconditional acceptance of me, I learned to accept who I am without condemnation.
Silence allows God to speak the greatest words of love your heart has ever known. Waiting quietly before God develops and deepens your relationship with Him and takes you to new levels of intimacy. His desire for a vibrant and very personal connection with you is revealed in all it's glory to you when you consistently pursue Him.
In John chapter 15, Jesus tells us that He is the Vine and we are the branches. Branches not connected to the vine die. We cannot have the life Jesus died for us to have without knowing Him for ourselves. All the promises of God will remain elusive until we invest in our relationship with Him by seeking His presence.
God's love never fails. Seek Him first and your life will never be the same.
