All You Need
This weekend I have been looking back at 2012. There having been many things to celebrate for and rejoice over but the year has also had some tough times and huge struggles. Today I am taking that knowledge and using it to look ahead to 2013. I have My One Word chosen (I do this instead of a list of resolutions) and last night at church my Pastor spoke about the verse below. It was so powerful for me that I wanted to share it with you.
God is always with us and He is always ready to help us. We never go through anything alone unless we choose to.
But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!
2 Corinthians 12:9 Amplified
The grace of God meets our every need. When we are confronted with difficult things, God's grace is there to shield and protect us as well as give us the strength we need to keeping moving forward AND have the victory. When we are weak, His perfect power enables us be strong and is a magnificent demonstration of His compassion and love for us on display for all to see.
The power of God's grace covers us everywhere we go. It is like an umbrella that shields us and dwells with us. In Psalm 91 when it talks about dwelling in the shadow of the Almighty, it is referring to the covering protection of God's grace. This covering never leaves us but we can step out from underneath it.
When we do something we know is wrong, we step out from under the covering of God's grace and become vulnerable to attack. We can get back under the covering of grace by simply asking for forgiveness. This will not, however, remove the consequences of our actions or words.
By God's grace we can identify the areas in our lives that need to be worked on and with that same grace we can make positive changes that will help us fulfill the great plan God has for us on this earth.
As you look ahead to the next year, I encourage you to press in closer to God and watch in amazement as His grace transforms your life.
God's grace is all you need.
