Chosen to Know
“But you are My witnesses, O Israel!” says The Lord. “You are My servant. You have been chosen to know Me, believe in Me, and understand that I alone am God. There is no other God— there never has been, and there never will be.
Isaiah 43:10 NLT
God has chosen you to know Him. Long before you knew of Him or about Him, He knew you, desired you, and invited you to know Him.
When God extended the invitation for us to come closer to Him, He knew He would have to make a way for us to get to Him. That way is Jesus Christ. God willingly gave His Son so that we could live on this earth and have a deep, personal, and vibrant covenant relationship with Him.
God chose each one of us specifically for His pleasure. He chose us to know Him and through our knowledge of Him, we learn to trust Him.
Our knowing God is the foundation of our belief in Him. We cannot believe in something or someone we don't know. To believe in God means that we trust Him. We believe He will keep His word. We trust Him to fulfill His promises. All relationships are built on knowing and believing. These are the ingredients, if you will, for a healthy relationship.
When we mix our knowledge of God and our belief in Him with time, we develop our understanding of just how great He is.
Time is a necessary and often frustrating ingredient in everything. We cannot experience the benefits of time without the pain of waiting. Strong relationships are not built in a day. It takes time to really get to know and trust someone. This is especially true in our relationship with God.
Time increases our understanding of God. It demonstrates His unique perfectness and becomes the fountain that bubbles over with praise and adoration for the one and only true God of all creation Who knows and loves us in all our messes, faults, and weaknesses.
With knowing and believing comes the understanding that there is only one God.
You have been chosen to know God.
