Keep Moving
We are kept safe in the light of Christ.
So Jesus said to them, You will have the Light only a little while longer. Walk while you have the Light [keep on living by it], so that darkness may not overtake and overcome you. He who walks about in the dark does not know where he goes [he is drifting].
John 12:35 Amplified
Let's look at the middle of this verse: Walk while you have the Light [keep on living in it], so that darkness may not overtake and overcome you. The command is simple, keep moving. Live in the Light of Christ. The promise is conditional. We are protected from the enemy when we stay in the Light.
This does not mean we are perfect or that we have it all together. I do not see anything here that says the amount of protection is based on how well we do. No, it is only based on us staying in motion. But what does that really mean?
It means, when you say the wrong thing, apologize and move on. When you make a bad choice, apologize and make things right. When you sin, repent and move on. When you fall, repent and get back up. Guilt and recrimination are from the devil and they cannot dwell with you in the Light. Keep moving toward Christ no matter how many times you mess up or misstep.
Jesus wants us to live in motion, to keep moving towards Him no matter what happens to us. This is no easy task when it seems like you are under attack and feel alone. Take heart, dear one, you are never alone. God is always with you. Jesus is the Light of God that dwells in you. He will not only show you the road to take but He will be the strength and wisdom you need to keep moving through every trial you face.
Rely on Him instead of yourself. Seek His wisdom instead of your own. Follow His lead and watch His light that is always shining around you reflect His goodness and His grace as you keep moving.
The only time you will fail is when you quit. As long as you keep moving, Jesus has not only promised to light your way, He has given you complete and total victory.
