Knowing
We have been given everything we need for life through our personal knowledge of Jesus Christ. Just knowing Who Jesus is will not fill us (or our lives) with the blessings He promises us. We must know Jesus personally, clearly understanding and accepting the mercy we don't deserve but have been given anyways.
For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).
2 Peter 1:3 Amplified
Personal knowledge of God can only be obtained through a relationship with Christ Jesus (John 14:6). If we want to know God then we have to start with knowing Christ and we cannot know Him if we only spend time with Him at a weekly church service.
Our relationship with Christ is built through the life experiences that we share with Him, prayer, and Bible reading. Every time we rely on His help to overcome a challenge, our hearts become a little more connected to Him. When we seek His wisdom about how to handle a situation, our understanding of Him grows.
Throughout our lives, God will repeatedly demonstrate the power of His love through His faithfulness to keep His word and never leave our side. We fail to experience all that He wants us to have when we do not include Him in what we are doing. The Bible promises that when we seek God we will find Him, when we ask for His help He will give it, and when we put our hope in Him we will not be disappointed.
A relationship with God is so much more than a relationship with another human being. For one thing, God is perfect and people are not. He will never hurt us or betray us like people will. His love for us is unconditional and never ending. It is a constant that we can bet our very lives on. Even if we turn away from God, His love for us remains. God's love is so pure and so beautiful that we can never fully understand it this side of heaven. But that does not mean we shouldn't try.
Knowing Jesus personally comes when we actually spend time with Him, sharing our problem and concerns, our hopes and our dreams. We learn who He is by reading our Bible but we experience His promises by living with Him. Nothing is able to overcome the power of our knowledge of God when it is grounded in our experiences. Every situation we go through with God brings us to a new level of understanding and a new awareness of how much we still need Him.
Jesus has already bestowed upon us everything we need for life but we can only access it through our personal knowledge of Who He is.
