Making Much

God takes our little and does much.

'You have eyes—can’t you see? You have ears—can’t you hear?’ Don’t you remember anything at all? When I fed the 5,000 with five loaves of bread, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up afterward?” “Twelve,” they said. “And when I fed the 4,000 with seven loaves, how many large baskets of leftovers did you pick up?” “Seven,” they said. “Don’t you understand yet?” he asked them.
                              Mark 8:18-21 NLT

For many years when I would read the stories of God feeding so many with so little all I felt was amazement. God can do so much more than we can imagine or think. But then I realized that many times, I would not give because I thought my offering wasn't enough to make a difference. I'm not just talking about money here. I wouldn't give anything, whether it was my time or my abilities because I felt they were not sufficient enough to accomplish anything. I was wrong.

Using a little boy's lunch, God fed several thousand people and picked up more in leftovers then they started out with. God used the little to do more than they expected. It was like Him using one lunchable to feed 4-5000 people and had lots of it left over. It doesn't seem possible but that is exactly what He did.

God will use everything we give Him to help someone in need. He never refuses an honest offering from us and by honest, I mean when we have no hidden motives or agendas.

Too many people look at the size of their offerings to God as the quantifier of their contribution. We limit our ability to make a difference by only looking at things from our perspective. Something looks small and insignificant to us so we say it is not useful. But God (I love saying that!) does not. It is not the size of what we offer that matters to Him. He can use every little thing we give Him to accomplish great things.

From now on, give freely to God knowing that whatever you give Him is significant.

God takes our little and does much.
