Taken Care Of
Psalm 23 is probably my most favorite passage of scripture. I have clung to it's words through many struggles. God's promise to take care of me has consistently been demonstrated in my life as He faithfully helps me to do all that needs to be done. Recently, I experienced it as a refreshing reminder of God's love and faithfulness.
The Lord is my Shepherd; I have all that I need.
Psalms 23:1 NLT
All our needs are met through Christ. I used to get my needs and wants mixed up but God (I love saying that!) has taught me how to differentiate the two and He repeatedly reminds me that everything I truly need to live - He provides.
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalm 23:1 NKJ
Wants and needs are not always the same. We need food and water to live, clothes to cover our body and a home to protect us from the elements. We need a job to pay our bills and a car to get us to and from work. We need regulare exercise to keep our body's strong and we need laughter and rest to keep us healthy.
All of us want to be loved, cherished, and accepted. We want to be valuable and desired by someone. We all have many other wants that we think are needs like fancy titles, elevated positions, name brand items, etc. While there is nothing wrong in having these things, they're not really needs and they are not eternal. They will fade away, break part, and lose their status.
God provides for all our needs and when we live with a God first mentality, He also takes care of our wants. Just the fact that He is God, makes Him our number one need. The more we recognize how much we need Him, the more our desire for Him grows.
THE LORD is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.
Psalm 23:1 Amplified
God is always looking out for us. Like the shepherd who protects and cares for his flock, Jesus is always watching over us, doing things for and with us today to help us be prepared for tomorrow. Even when it comes to situations or circumstances that we don't understand or like, God is using them for our benefit.
God provides for His people. He will meet our needs and help us every time we ask. God will never do anything that does not ultimately benefit us. It may seem hard for a season but in the end, it will be a beautiful story of His great love for us and it will be called "Your Life."
Take comfort today knowing that God who misses nothing and sees everything, is always taking care of you.
God takes care of us.
