Look Up
In Paul's re-telling of his conversion on the road to Damascus, we see how our actions place us in positions to receive from God.
(Ananias) Came to see me, standing by my side said to me, Brother Saul, look up and receive back your sight. And in that very instant I [recovered my sight and] saw him.
Acts 22:13 Amplified
The first thing Ananias told Paul to do was look up. As soon as Ananias told Paul to look up, he did, and his sight was instantly returned. Notice Paul did not lay on the road for days on end complaining because he lost his sight or feeling sorry for himself. He heard God's instructions and he obeyed. As a result of his obedience, God was able to use Paul in a powerful way.
That is something we can all do more often - look up. Look up to God for help. Look up to God for guidance. Look up to God for strength. Look up to God for wisdom. Look up to God for healing. Look up to God for everything you need.
There have been many times in my life that I have sat and wallowed in negativity and kept my focus only on me and what I could understand or do. But God (I love saying that!) did not let me stay there and He won't let you stay there either. Jesus did not promise us an easy road free of temptations. No, He said we would go through tough things but that He had already conquered those things for us so we do not have to worry about them. All we have to do is keep our eyes on Him.
A God first life refuses to accept the answers or ways of this world. We live by faith with our eyes on God. When something happens and you don't know what to do, look up. Look up - beyond yourself and take hold of God, cling to His promises with the confident expectation that He will always keep His word, and let Him lead you through every difficult situation.
Look up and let God help you.
