New Life

I was recently asked what does the Resurrection mean to me and in all honesty, my first thought was life.

We were buried therefore with Him by the baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious [power] of the Father, so we too might [habitually] live and behave in newness of life.
                              Romans 6:4 Amplified

The resurrection always makes me think of new life and specifically the new life Christ has given me. Time and space do not allow for a detailed story but God has done an extreme makeover in my life.

When I met Jesus, I was emotionally wounded and I felt like I was nothing but dried bones in the sand. The resurrection of Jesus Christ changed all of that. Because Jesus rose from the dead, those dead areas of my heart and mind have been given new life. I am a new creation and my past has lost its power over me.

Since God does not differentiate between us, what He does for one, He will do for all. This does not mean the road will be easy and smooth but it does guarantee each of us a new chance at life. He gives us opportunities to make better choices and to live better lives.

I don't know what your past has in it but I do know that your future does not have to be limited by your past. Leave the past behind you and take a hold of God's promises. Cling to them and refuse to let go.  Let the Word of God shape and declare the new life you have as a believer in Christ.

Jesus said He came to give us life and life more abundant (John 10:10). Let this Easter season be the beginning of your new life. Dare to believe God's promises are for you no matter what your circumstances look like.

Your new life begins with Jesus Christ and only ends when you let go of Him.

Live and behave in the new life you have been given in Christ.
