Source of Hope
I have been inundated lately by two words: THE WORD.
I don't think we really understand the importance and the power of knowing and living by the Word of God. Jesus used it to defeat the devil. I have seen it radically transform my heart and my life. Many people throw around pieces of scripture without living them.
The Word of God is so powerful that you could live by one verse for the rest of your life. One verse can carry you through every season of life, through storms and victories. But at the same time, you can read the Bible multiple times and get something new every time. No matter how many times you hear a verse or passage of scripture, you can get something new, something you need in that moment.
For whatever was thus written in former days was written for our instruction, that by [our steadfast and patient] endurance and the encouragement [drawn] from the Scriptures we might hold fast to and cherish hope.
Romans 15:4 Amplified
Cherish hope. Hope is our confidence in what we cannot see. It is our belief that God WILL keep His word.
God gave us His Word to use in our everyday life as a foundation to stand on, as a shield to protect us, and as a weapon to defend us. The scriptures are a constant wellspring of hope and encouragement that creates the boundaries and limits of our lives and keeps us safe from the deceptions of the enemy.
What is your hope in? Your own abilities? The people you know? Your money?
If your hope is in anything other than the Word of God, you will struggle, get discouraged, and be defeated.
The hope that empowers our heart to overcome every attack is only found in Jesus Christ. He is the Word of God in a fleshly body. Your Bible is Jesus speaking to you. The Bible is not just a bunch of stories for your entertainment. They represent the truth of God expressed in ways you can understand and use to live a God first life.
Proverbs 4:23 tells us to guard our heart and the best way to do that is to keep our hope in God's word. Hope is kept alive when we speak His promises out loud, when we think about how to live God's word, and when we keep our eyes focused on what God says.

Put your hope in the Word of God.
