The Greatest Masterpiece

Twice in my life, I have seen the famous Mona Lisa painting. It's called a masterpiece all over the world and no one knows for sure what is behind that smile of hers. There have been numerous discussions about who she is and where she came from and people wait in line for hours to see her smile but she is not the greatest masterpiece in this world.  There is another that is far more valuable and precious.  You!

You are the greatest masterpiece of all time.

For we are God's masterpiece.  He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
                              Ephesians 2:10 NLT

God created each one of us individually.  His hands formed and shaped us in the womb according to His desires.  We were made by God Himself.  Although we may not understand why He made us the way He did while we are here on earth, we can be certain that He made us with great care and delight.

You guided my conception and formed me in the womb. You clothed me with skin and flesh, and you knit my bones and sinews together. You gave me life and showed me your unfailing love. My life was preserved by your care.
                              Job 10:10-12 NLT

Although there are similarities in our genetic make up, there are no two people exactly alike.  What about identical twins?  Well even they have different finger prints and giftings.  We were all created to be a one of a kind, unique and beautiful person.

You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
                              Psalms 139:15 NLT

God formed us in private so that we could be revealed as His beautiful masterpiece.  He gave each one of us special talents, gifts, and abilities.  His desire was for us to embrace our differences and similarities as we reflect a small image of Him in this world.  We were never intended to be poor imitations of one another.

We are God's masterpiece.  We are a small reflection of His greatness, His beauty, His strength, His wisdom, and His love.  God created us to be like Him on this earth not to be like each other.  Unity is not the same as conformity.  We were made to be different in style and expression but united in purpose.

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”
                              Jeremiah 1:5 NLT

We were known by God long before He ever started forming us in the womb.  He made plans for us and put us together in such a way that we could show off His handiwork.  We are more beautiful than the sun rising over the horizon in the east and setting in the west.  We are more beautiful than snow covered mountains and rolling ocean waves.  We are wondrous images of God just as the desert landscape and the wheat filled plains are.

The Bible says that everything God created in this world is good in His eyes.  Our world, however, is not full of only God.  We have an adversary who has convinced many to be unhappy with the way they were made.  John 10:10 says the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy and that is exactly what he has done to those of us who have lost sight of the value of our uniqueness.

Stop trying to be an imitation of anyone other than God. Ask Him to help you see yourself just as He does.  Search His Word for His declarations of your beauty, value, and worth.  Believe only what He says about you and refuse to waste another minute comparing yourself to another person.

You are the greatest masterpiece of all time!
