With My Whole Heart 2

God has given us the ability to make our own choices.

With my whole heart have I sought You, inquiring for and of You and yearning for You; Oh, let me not wander or step aside [either in ignorance or willfully] from Your commandments.
                              Psalm 119:10 Amplified

The Bible warns us not to let anything take the place of God in our lives.  We cannot be a people pleaser and a God pleaser simultaneously. We have to pick one or the other. This is not a trick question or a pop quiz. The Bible tells us we have two choices - we're either for Him or against Him.

God wants us all in for Him. There is no half way and there is no gray area. He wants us totally committed and unswervingly faithful to Him but He also knows our human frailties.  He understands our struggles with our flesh and with living in this sinful world.  This is why He gave us Jesus.

Because of Jesus, we don't have to be perfect all the time.  We are asked to do the best we can with what we've got.  Our fickle emotions make it difficult for us to make good choices all the time. But God (I love saying that!) has given us everything we need to live above our feelings.

Jesus knows and understands us because He lived in this world as a man. He showed us that it is possible to live around religious biases, temptation, and betrayal while still keeping our hearts committed to our Heavenly Father. He showed us how to deal with bullying and abuse. He even showed us how to respond to false accusations.

But more than all that, Jesus gave His life so you could come to God for yourself. The goal, God's plan all along, was for you and He to have a deeply personal and intimate relationship based on a covenant that is sealed by the blood of Christ.

Jesus gave His life for you so you could give your heart to God.
