With My Whole Heart 3

We have been given the Word of God to help us on our journey through this world.

Give me understanding, that I may keep Your law; yes, I will observe it with my whole heart.
                              Psalm 119:34 Amplified

It is easier to keep our heart committed to something and over-ride our emotions when we have a combination of intellectual and experiential knowledge. We can read our Bibles and listen to others share what God has done in their lives but without experiencing God's goodness for ourselves we will lack personal appreciation of Who God is and how great He is.

The abundant life Jesus promises us in the book of John manifests in our lives when we combine Bible reading with life application. Applying God's word to our life simply means we obey Him. We make the decision to live for God according to His Word. There is no other way we can grow in understanding.

Everyday we make choices and every choice we make shapes and influences our life. If we choose to put other things or people ahead of God then we will miss out on the fullness of His blessings described by Paul in Ephesians. When the decisions we make line up with the Word of God, our heart engages with His promises and we find ourselves living a life better than we ever imagined we could.

Put God first in your life. Involve Him in every decision you make. Don't worry about being perfect. The above verse in another translation says:

Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart.
                              Psalms 119:34 NLT

In your life put God's instructions into practice. When you mess up, get back up. Rely on God and He will empower you to do amazing things.

Going through situations and seeing the love and faithfulness of God over and over again enhances our knowledge of His Word and enables us to keep our whole heart engaged in doing things His way.

Seek God with your whole heart through the practice of His Word.
