With My Whole Heart 6
Our journey with God is dependent on how much of our heart we give to Him. In every situation we can choose to invest all of our heart or not.
I cried with my whole heart, hear me O Lord, I will keep Your statutes [I will hear, receive, love and obey them].
Psalm 119:145 Amplified
This is not a light or easy choice. Most people come to this point after being broken and hurt. We recognize a need for change in our lives but many times we are unsure what we really need to do. We attempt to find a solution or some peace in the different things of this world but to no avail. Our desires seem elusive and slip through our fingers every time. It is only when we grab a hold of and cling to the Word of God that we find exactly what we have been looking for all along.
God's promise are for those who will believe, those who will dare to step out in faith and those who will really take Him at His word. This is not for the fainthearted.
Following God requires us to do things even when we are afraid and especially when we cannot see how the situation will work out. It requires trust. And trust in God only comes to us through knowledge of His word and a personal knowledge of His faithfulness.
Living a life of faith in God instead of ourselves will require sacrifice and change. It is at once a great challenge and a great joy. And we have been given all the answers in God's word.
We set ourselves up for failure when we pick and chose only the pieces of God's word that we like. It must, to live the abundant much more life promised to us by Jesus, be embraced, applied, and practiced with our whole heart. Nothing less will do.
Jesus gave His heart, His body, and His Spirit up for us. Why should we give any less in return?
I hope you have got something out of this series on the whole heart from Psalm 119 as this is the last one. From today's verse we will move on to keeping God's statutes through hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying them.
God bless you and fill you with greater understanding of His Word.
