Keep On

Society is full of quick fixes and overnight cures. People demand instant results and gratification and are furious when they don't get their way.  Some have lost everything in pursuit of get rich quick schemes.  Many have been destroyed spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally as a result of the false belief that life should be easy and one should not have to put out any effort in order to have "the good life."

So I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives; and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds; and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened.
                              Luke 11:9-10 Amplified

People give up too easy.  We tend to stop moving forward the first time we hit a bump in the road.  But Jesus is telling us to keep on moving forward.  He will give us what we need to complete the journey.  We cannot live the promises of God without going through the ups and downs of life with Him at our side.

Go ahead and ask God all your questions.  Just don't expect the answers to fall from the sky and land in your lap.  Search for His answer in your Bible.  Spend time looking up the topic and make an effort to gain better understanding.  Seek godly wisdom from your church leaders or Pastor.

Ask for help in difficult times.  Let God help you through the storm.  Seek comfort and strength in His Word.  Memorize the verses that encourage you.  Cling to them and refuse to let go.  Pray constantly.

Ask for a better job but be willing to do what God says you need to do to get it.  Work harder, stop complaining about your boss and intentionally seek out ways to help make their job easier.  Stop surfing the web on company time and don't take the office supplies home with you.  Show up on time and help others out even when it is inconvenient.

Ask for any and every kind of healing that you need - physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental.  Seek out the verses of scripture that promise God will heal you.  Memorize them and make them yours by speaking them out loud.  If you need to go to the doctor - go.  Take the medicine and follow his instructions but keep your faith in God to actually bring your healing.

Ask God to restore your marriage.  Then change your attitude toward your spouse.  Stop nagging and pointing out all their faults.  Focus instead on what they do right and what they do well.  Praise them out loud and in front of others.  Pray for God's blessings to be poured out in abundance in their lives.

Ask God to make you the best partner for your spouse and be willing to change whatever He shows you needs changing.  Put your spouses needs and dreams above your own.  Let your actions reveal your love for one another.

Ask God to help you with a rebellious child.  Seek guidance in His Word and with church leaders.  Establish clear boundaries and consequences for going outside of the boundaries.  Be consistent in your discipline and pray constantly for God's help.  Praise your child to their face and in front of others.  Encourage them to develop their gifts and talents.

These are just a few examples but you get the point.  None of them are solved overnight.  It takes time and diligence to live the promises of God.  Don't rush through things because you will miss the wisdom that can only be developed through faith and patience.

God does not promise us instant victory in life but He does guarantee we will win the trophy if we don't give up or quit along the way.  Sometimes life will be hard, our hearts will break and we will be caught off guard but God (I love saying that!) is always with us.  He will take care of us and help us through every season of life.

Claim the promises of God as yours and even if the outcome that YOU wanted does not happen, you can be sure that everything God does for you is in your best interest.  You will not always understand why God does what He does when He does it but you will at some point in the future.

Whatever you are facing today, I encourage you to keep on asking, seeking and trusting God.
