Knowing Him

There one thing in life worth bragging about and that one thing is knowing God.

But let him who glories glory in this: that he understands and knows Me [personally and practically, directly discerning and recognizing My character], that I am the Lord, Who practices loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord.
                              Jeremiah 9:24 Amplified

Have you ever stopped to think about how amazing it is that God, the Creator of everything, the LORD God Almighty, the Giver of Life - has given us the gift of being able to know Him.  I don't just mean know Who He is either.  I mean really know Him.

In the Book of Isaiah we are told that God desires deep and intimate relationships with all people.  But too many of us disqualify ourselves from having such a relationship because we see our past more clearly than we see the love God has for us.

Yes, we need to acknowledge our past with God but that is it.  Our relationship with God, the Father, through Jesus, the Son, removes the sting of what lies behind us so we can live freely in His love.  Now we can have, we can live, and we can enjoy a deep and satisfying relationship with the One and Only Living God.

There is no substitute for God.  He is the only One.  Nothing can make us happier or fulfill our desires so completely.  There is only one way to God and this is Jesus Christ, His begotten Son.

Knowing who God is helps us know ourselves.  The Bible says we are made in the image of God.  He shaped and formed us in our mother's womb.  He knew all the days of our lives before we had lived even one.  Despite knowing all the wrong things we would do, God chose to love us.  He chose to forgive us.  And He chose to open His heart to us and set us free from condemnation.

How great, how crazy it sounds that we get to know personally for ourselves the Maker of all the earth!

God wants us to know Him just as well as He knows us.  Think about that.  God wants you to know Him.

Make time everyday to just hang out with God.  Read your Bible.  Talk to Him.  Share your heart, your dreams and your needs.  Ask for His help.  Lean on His strength and trust in His wisdom.  Let Him lead you through the storms.  Celebrate your successes with praise for what He has done in you and for you.

Enjoy knowing God.
