Ready To Fight
We are called and equipped to fight. Now before you get upset with that statement, think about it.
Being followers of Christ has required us to give up old ways of living in exchange for learning new ways of living. This change does not come easy. We have to fight to live a life full of God's promises.
Paul warns us that we are in a fight not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers of darkness. Jesus teaches us that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy but when we wield the Word of God we will always live.
From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.
Matthew 11:12 ESV
The Bible calls the Word of God our sword and a sword is a weapon used to fight.
With it, we can:
- defend ourselves and our loved ones.
- defeat those who come against us.
- keep our homes safe.
- shelter oursleves during storms.
Daily we fight the battle to live a godly life by destroying old habits and practicing new ones and by conforming our thoughts to God's Word.
With the Word, we give shape, structure and substance to our lives. With the Word, we fight the devil and we always win.
Don't stand back and let the enemy take anything else from you. Rise up. Stand up and speak the Word. Take the promises of God and make them yours. This is how you fight the good fight of faith.
This morning the passion of fighting for what God promises has overtaken me. I refuse to quit. I will not let the enemy have my loved ones. I will not let him have my friends or the people in my church. The devil cannot destroy the good work God has started in me because my hope, my trust, and my confidence is in God alone. Nothing can separate me from the love and favor of God without my consent and I'm not giving it. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not the next day or next week. Not ever.
The devil will get nothing from me except the Word of God.
Fight with me.
