How You Can Have It All

Some people miss out on the fulfillment of God's promises in their lives because they are waiting for God to meet their demands and satisfy their desires.  But that is not how the kingdom of God works.

God has a special and unique plan for each one of us.  His plan is a gift along with all the abilities and talents  He put in us.  God's plan will always give life, do the impossible, and heal every kind of sickness and hurt.  God's plan is to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).  A future that is far better than anything we can come up with.

One of the biggest stumbling blocks for people is that they think they have to be out front, in the lead, and highly visible in order to be used by God.  They believe that God only uses the people who are teaching, preaching, and standing in front of groups of people because they base being used by God on acceptance and praise from men instead of God.

See, God uses every person to shine the light of Christ.  The only ones who actually do it though, are those who submit to God's plan instead of their own.  If you want to be used by God, you have to live completely surrendered to His will and not your own.  This doesn't mean you don't have dreams or desires. It means that you take your aspirations and talk about them with God then you declare that above it all - you want what God has for you.

John the Baptist knew he was called to go before the Messiah and announce His arrival.  He was the arrow that pointed the people to Christ.  When his disciples complained about Jesus taking the people away from him, John responded with some great words of wisdom that we all would do well to remember.

John answered, A man can receive nothing [he can claim nothing, he can take unto himself nothing] except as it has been granted to him from heaven. [A man must be content to receive the gift which is given him from heaven; there is no other source.]
                              John 3:27 Amplified

We must learn to be content with what God has for us and not chase after the favor and approval of others.  There is no competition in God's kingdom.  Jesus is the only One worthy of our praise and adoration, not ourselves.  We fail to reach our full potential when we stop at the hill of comparison and build our home there.

We fail to mature in God when we base our usefulness to Him with the same standards the world uses to measure success.  God's ways are not our ways.  He doesn't measure people by any outward thing.  God measures us by our heart.  He looks at and considers our motives.  He knows the thoughts we hide behind our actions.  He is not impressed by our acceptance in the world.

Success in God's kingdom is based on our loving obedience to Him.  It is the desire to serve and help others as a way of thanking God for ALL He has done for us.  Instead of fighting God to get your way, surrender your plans to Him.  Ask Him to bring your desires to pass in His perfect timing and wait patiently knowing that He will bring to it pass at just the right time.  Refuse to allow other people to distract you from what God has for you.

God is not concerned with what other people say or think about you. His greatest desire is for a deep and intimate relationship with you.  Don't get hung up on on who has what or waste time focusing on what you think you don't have.  Let God lead you daily into the best future for you.

Being content through your life journey allows God to use you to help others along the way.
