Can't Do It All
I used to have a hard time asking for help. I hated it. I thought that by asking for help I was demonstrating weakness. Needless to say, this kind of attitude caused a lot of problems and made life harder than it needed to be.
We can't do everything for ourselves all the time. Life, because it is always in motion, will always bring us to places where we have two choices. One, to ask for help and two to keep trying to do it on our own. The latter will result in frustration and disappointment. God did not make us to go it alone.
Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.
Psalm 54:4 ESV
Not only does God give us life but He gives us the power, wisdom, and strength to accomplish things we never imagined we could do. He helps us to fulfill our destiny, to mature in the fullness of His riches and to do great and mighty works for His glory. It is all for His glory.
We were created with strengths and weaknesses. We were given gifts that enable us to carry out some tasks with natural ability and some that we have to work hard for. All of them will require us to practice. Even our inborn abilities will have to grow and develop over time. It is through practice and our total reliance on God that we become experts and what was once awkward now becomes second nature.
Don't worry about having to ask for help. Don't refuse to do it either. We were made to need help. Not sure you believe this? Let's look at the life of Jesus, Who is our example in all things.
Jesus was fully God. Just because He walked this earth as a man and lived within the limits of mankind, doesn't mean He did not have the ability to call to action every resource of Heaven to help Him (Matt. 26:53) instead He relied on the Father to help Him. He had angels minister to Him after being tempted by the devil (Mark 1:13). He spent many hours alone with God. He allowed His disciples to help Him minister to the people. He taught them all He could about the kingdom of God so they could go out and share it with others. Jesus relied on the help of God, people, and angels to accomplish His mission on this earth.
Now does it seem so impossible that God would have us also to ask for help? I think not.
As I continually prove in my own life, I need God's help everyday. So do you. We cannot make it through one minute, one hour, or one day without the help of Jesus. There is nothing wrong in asking for help. We were made to need it. Pride will prevent us from asking for it.
Don't let pride stop you. Don't let it hold you back and keep you from the promises of God. The Bible promises us that when we come to God, we can ask Him for help and He will do it.
You can't do it all by yourself so let the Lord help you.
