Put It On

Your clothes do not jump on your body every morning when you get dressed and neither will God's armor.  Just like you have to choose to get dressed, you choose to put on the armor of God.  But how do we "put on" something we cannot see?

By faith.

Yes it really is that complex.  By faith we receive all the promises of God and the first step in putting on His armor is to believe you have it.

Putting on the armor of God is something we do on purpose.  It is a choice.  We have to decide that no matter what happens we will stand with God, in obedience to His Word.  We will not quit.  We won't back down.

A soldier doesn't go into battle with only some of his gear on.  He puts all of his armor on long before he gets to the battlefield.  In the same way, we have to prepare ourselves for battle by knowing God's Word and spending time with Him.

We have to accept the gift of armor that Christ has given us.  We accept God's armor when we choose to put it on.

In Isaiah 61:3 we are told that Jesus gives us the garment of praise.  The root word for "garment" shows us that praise is more than a casually carried winter jacket.  It is something that must be PUT ON - done on purpose.  Regardless of how we feel, what we think, or what is going on around us.

The garment of praise is literally something we wrap ourselves in.  When we are covered in praise, there will be no openings for the the enemy.  This cloak removes and repels any spirit of heaviness that tries to come on us.

Praise is our protection from the elements like a warm winter cloak but it can do nothing for us until we PUT it ON.

Today PUT ON the armor of God, PUT ON the garment of praise.
