Stand Against

We have an active role to play in the spiritual battle against the devil.  When trouble comes, God doesn't wave His hand and remove our struggles in an instant.  Our issues and attackers cannot be defeated with physical weapons.   We are called to fight the good fight of faith.  

               Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.

                              Ephesians 6:13

We are soldiers in the army of God called to do good works in the presence of evil.  We have an enemy and we don't fight him with physical things.  We fight him with faith.  Not faith in ourselves but faith in God.  By faith we take a stand against evil and declare what Christ accomplished on the Cross for us personally.

We are guaranteed the victory Jesus won for us but we must fight our battles by claiming the provisions of the Cross.   We fight with faith through prayer.

By prayer we tear down the demonic strongholds that affect our thoughts.  Meditating and focusing on God's Word is how prayer destroys the influence the enemy has over us.  The more we focus on what God says, the more we believe it.  As our trust in the Truth gets stronger, we take control of our thoughts.

The word "withstand" means 'to stand against' and it is not a passive or weak position.  It is a defensive and offensive position that is the result of faith and prayer and it enables us to aggressively hold our foe at bay.  This is how we confront and oppose the lies of the enemy.  

"To stand against" denotes we are to engage actively in one-on-one combat and will be found still standing when the battle is done.  We are called to vigorously oppose the enemy not by our own power or ability but with all that has been given to us through Jesus Christ.  This can only be done by faith on the avenue of prayer.

We have been given the best arsenal of weapons and the victory through our faith in Jesus Christ.  Our success in this battle is a done deal because Jesus has already defeated and imprisoned the enemy for us.  All we have to do is step up and accept it.

Choose today to stand on God's Word and refuse to let go no matter what.
