When The Walls Are Closing In

We all experience grief, hurt, injury, loss, depression, rejection, and disappointment at some point to varying degrees through out our life.  In fact, Jesus told us we would encounter all kinds of trials and tribulations but that we could get through them and have joy because He has already overcome them for us (John 16:33).

This is great news!  However, when the storm is raging and you feel like the walls are closing in on you, it can seem near impossible to see beyond the moment.  Hope is a distant glimmer that fades in and out of your view.  These are NOT the moments to stop or quit.

Even in the face of the most difficult thing you can imagine happening there is only One Who can help you.

In my distress [when seemingly closed in] I called upon the Lord and cried to my God; He heard my voice out of His temple (heavenly dwelling place), and my cry came before Him, into His [very] ears.
                              Psalm 18:6 Amplified

When you are feeling overwhelmed and pressed in on every side, God is the One to turn to.  He will hear your cries for help and He will get you through.  He may not remove the trouble, but He will walk with you through it.

Saul chased David for a long time and Psalm 18 are the words David spoke about the hand of God Who helped him get through it with strength.  God does not change - so that same strength that helped David is available to you.  The same ear that listened for David's voice is also listening for your voice.  Call out to God.

I get so frustrated when people say, "Well, I've done all I can do.  I guess I'll just have to pray."  Like it's a last resort??!!!  Really?  Prayer should be our first response in every situation, good or bad.  Prayer is a privilege that many mistake as a duty.

I have learned the hard way that trying to handle things on my own only prolongs the misery.  I make situations more difficult and they last longer when I try to take care of them on my own.   The difficult times that I immediately turned to God for help were shorter and I had comfort during in the process of going through.

We were not made to carry the load of difficulties and burdens that the world throws at us.

Jesus asks us to come to Him with all our cares and concerns (Matt. 11:28-30).  In times of great distress, Jesus is there ready to carry the burden.  He alone is able to handle our grief, our hurt, our depression, our anxiety, our sin, and our sickness.  He is bigger and stronger than anything that comes at us.

Jesus lived on this earth as a man so that He could help us in every way to handle and get through any difficult thing that comes our way.

There is only one Way out and that is through Jesus Christ.  Cry out to Him.  Call on Him to meet your every need.  Don't wait for the walls to fall in on you.  Start today, making Jesus your number One, go to Guy for everything and anything you need.

God Bless!
