Living Light

Have you ever tried to do something in the dark only to trip or fall or break something and have to turn on the light anyway?  I have.  In fact, I spent many years of my life living in darkness trying to fix things that I really couldn't see or understand.

It wasn't until I allowed the Light of Jesus Christ to shine in me and my life that I was able to make any lasting progress.

For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine; the Lord, my God illuminates my darkness.
                              Psalm 18:28

There are three things that came to me this morning when I read this verse.

1.  God lights the path we are to walk on.

I know this is obvious but think about how His Light helps you see the next step.  His Light is not like a spotlight that only shines in a small limited area.

The Light of Christ dispels all the darkness around us and reveals our surroundings making our footsteps sure and swift.  It clears our vision so we can take that next step but it also lights the way for those who come behind us.

2.  The Light of Christ gives us wisdom.

As our surroundings are revealed to us we are able to see with greater understanding.  Problems or issues that seemed unclear or muddied are put into focus and we can readily see what is true.

Discernment in how to handle particular situations or concerns becomes obvious.  Our understanding of the power of spiritual truths becomes manifest in our physical lives as we choose to respond to what He reveals to us.  We find solutions when His Light brings us revelation.

3.  Healing comes when the Light of God exposes the enemy's lies.

When we open the door to the closet in our hearts where we hide our secrets and our hurts, it is God's Light that destroys the power they have over us.  It is His Light that breaks the control our secrets kept us chained to and it is that same precious Light that pours rivers of living water over us causing those old wounds to heal.

In John 14:6 Jesus says, "I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me."   There is only One Way to live in the Light of God and that is through Jesus.

In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men.
                              John 1:4

Jesus is not only our Life, He is our Light.  He helps us navigate the slippery slopes of life in this world.  He keeps our feet on solid ground.  He reveals to us things that we had no other way of knowing and He restores health to every area of our body and life.

Let the Light of Christ guide your steps, increase your knowledge and heal your broken places.
