Living with a Hungry Heart
I have carried a dream in my heart for over ten years now. A dream so powerful and so compelling that I have surrendered recklessly to God every thing that I have and all that I am. For the last year or so I have felt "pregnant" with this dream. I am expecting it to come to life any day now.
However.....
I am not always patient with God's timing. There are times that I try to make things happen on my own. This last week has been one of those times. My frustration at things not moving as fast as I want them to has lead me once again to the throne of grace. I come back to the only one Who does have the answers my heart seeks.
Have you ever waited on God? How do you keep yourself moving forward when you reach that point of frustration in the present on the way to your future?
I sit at His feet and ask Him if this dream is really a part of His plan for me or should I just let it go and be content with what I have. Now let me just say that what I have is REALLY good but my heart has a longing for something different.
I have learned over the years, to simply go directly to God and ask for His encouragement. Last weekend as I was asking Him (again) about the pursuit of my dream, He so kindly reminded me of this:
But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
I have a tendency to get out ahead of God and try to work things out myself. Can you relate? Every time, He patiently reminds me that I need to let Him lead. This morning in my conversation with Him again about this dream and the decision before me, He reminded me of this verse:
In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
John 14:2
The full meaning of waiting for God's perfect timing in order to live the dream He has given me hit smack between the eyes. In fact, it is such a powerful word to me that I just had to share it with you. This is what He said:
"I have prepared a place for you. Now I am preparing you for that place."
What dream is God preparing you for?
Are you staying soft and pliable in His hands?
Be patient in the hands of God.
Stay on His path and let Him lead.
Don't give in to doubt or discouragement.
Follow God's path for you.
Take God at His Word. He will not let you down!
Look to God for strength, help and wisdom. Know that He is using today to prepare you for tomorrow.
Hold His words close to your heart for He is faithful to keep His promise.
Keep seeking God. Ask Him questions. Pursue him with your whole heart and in the end you will find yourself.
Trust Him to prepare you perfectly for that place He has prepared for you.
