Who Has Value?
A couple of months ago as I was running along our main street, God had me stop and pick up some trash that had been left on the sidewalks. Three times, He had me pick up something and throw it away. After the third time, I asked Him "What are You saying to me?"
His reply was simple, "What people throw away as trash is valuable to Me."
And the voice came to him again a second time, “What God has made clean, do not call common.”
Acts 10:15 ESV
This was significant to me for two reasons. One, I grew up believing that I wasn't valuable or worth much. In fact, the night God made Himself real to me was the night I had given up ALL hope of ever being loved or happy.
The second reason why this was significant was because God had been showing me in the Word that people matter to Him.
And he said to them, “You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean.
Acts 10:28 ESV
Every person is a soul that Jesus died to save.
Our social status and performance do not affect how much God loves us. Jesus died for every person to have the opportunity to enter into His promises. Every person. Whether they are in jail or living on the street, whether they are using drugs or not, whether they are selling their bodies to make a living or working in a factory - none of this matters to God.
Jesus came to give life to every person and I'm not referring to physical life although He most certainly blesses us. Every person is greatly desired and valued by God.
Every person.
No questions asked and no condemnation. Jesus calls us all to lay down our self focused thoughts and lives in order to receive eternal life with Him.
Have you discounted your value or worth? What about someone else's?
If so (and we all have at some time), repent. Ask God to forgive those thoughts and attitudes. Ask Him to show you the value and worth in every person you come into contact with. And specifically ask Him to reveal what He sees when He looks at you.
I'd love to pray for you personally so message me. Also, if this helped you, share it. Send it to your friends and family and talk about how your thoughts and attitudes cause you to reject the very people Jesus died to save. One last thing, you can enter your email on the top right side of the page and have every article sent right to you. Promise, I won't share it.
May the peace and strength of God be with you,
Heidirn
