A Generous Love
The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.
Prov. 11:24-25 Message
The more we give, the more room we have to receive. Giving generously, without worrying about ourselves, demonstrates our trust in God to provide for us.
In light of God talking to me about abiding and loving the last few days, I could not help thinking that generosity goes far beyond our stuff or our money or our time.
Generosity is best seen when we put our thoughts, opinions, and feelings aside in order to love like Jesus. It's the giving of love instead of stuff. It is the sacrifice of self focus so that we can be more God focused.
When we decide to and then give love generously - with joy - we are living on the foundation of Christ, Who also lived and died for love. When we first choose to love someone, it can be very easy but when trouble comes, we have to keep on choosing to love them and ignore our feelings of "what about me?"
We give love like this usually in marriage but we also do it with our children and our extended family. Loving sacrificially is hardest to give to those closest to us. Probably because they live with us and see us as others do not and that makes it very difficult to fool them with momentary acts of love.
The blessings promised to a generous life are ours when we are generous with our love.
The greatest desire of the human heart is to be loved. The more you ignore self love and focus on loving others, the more God can reveal His love to you.
Your relationship with God will deepen when you give love generously without concern for self.
True generosity is an attitude of the heart that results from choosing to love.
