Love, Honor, and Respect

...but love (affection and goodwill and benevolence) edifies and builds up and encourages one to grow [to his full stature].
                        1 Cor. 8:1b Amplified

A huge part of showing love is in giving honor and respect.  Acts of kindness matter little if you don't first respect the person as a creation of God.  A heart full of love is revealed when we treat every person with the same dignity and respect.

Love does not discriminate for any reason.  Love accepts all people hoping to help them on their own journey of life.

Love does not listen to or repeat gossip.  Those little nuggets of poison will interfere with your ability to treat that person right.

Love does not bad mouth a person behind their back and then turn around and call them friend.  The Bible calls this double-minded, it is also disrespectful and deceitful.

To love someone does not mean that you agree with what that person says or does.  It simply means that you value their intrinsic worth as a human being created by God in His image.

Love never passes judgment on others.

Respect and honor are grounded in our own understanding of how merciful God has been to us.  We are not responsible for how someone else lives or the choices they make.  We are held accountable to God for how we have lived the life He has given us.

Our own growth in the image of God is dependent on how we treat others.  We reach our full potential when we treat all people with honor and respect.

Love includes giving honor and being respectful to every person.
