Connect the Dots
In thinking about connections over the weekend, I was reminded about the pictures I would make as kid by connecting the dots. I loved those things. I would go through coloring books and do all the connect the dot pages first. It was exciting to discover what all those dots, when connected in the correct order, would reveal.
The body of Christ can resemble a page of connect the dots. Each one of us represents a dot, each one has a specific place, function, and purpose in the picture. It takes all of the dots being in the right position and connected to the right partners to complete the picture. If one dot is incorrectly connected to another dot, the picture gets distorted.
From the dot's point of view, it doesn't seem like one can do much. But when you step back and look at the bigger picture, one dot makes a huge difference.
So we, numerous as we are, are one body in Christ (the Messiah) and individually we are parts of one another [mutually dependent on one another].
Rom. 12:5 Amplified
The body of Christ works best when each of us is in our place and connected properly to each other. The Bible says that each one of us has been placed in the body in a specific spot for a specific purpose. We were made to function in our place in the body of Christ. Being connected to the wrong people or the wrong things can stop us from reaching our full potential and limits our ability to reflect Jesus to others.
Our relationship with God enables us to fulfill our call and purpose. We need Him to give us wisdom, to be creative, and to help other people come to the life saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Living connected to God, we are able to grow and flourish in every area of life and through our own growth, we will find more ways that we can use what God has given us to help those in need.
Our relationship with God improves our ability to help others.
Inner turmoil and frustration will result if we hold on to things or people that are not connected to God. Unhealthy relationships will always bring us down as long as we continue to stay in them. They will inhibit our relationship with God and effect the functioning of the body of Christ.
