Sound Mind
I can't seem to get a verse out of my head. There is a powerful message in it and as I sort through it I want to share what hit me first.
Hear, O daughter, consider, submit, and consent to my instruction: forget also your own people and your father’s house;
Psalm 45:10 Amplified
Notice the three words - consider, submit, and consent. They are issued as commands and I sense a power surrounding them that I cannot ignore.
There is a relationship between these words and the foundation is found in 2 Tim. 1:7 where we see that God has given us a sound mind.
God does not want blind obedience or for us to live with Him out of obligation. He wants us to use our minds, to think about and ponder things like our life and His word. We consider what God has done, what His word says, and how obedience to Him could change our situation or circumstances.
The best choice we can make is to submit to God's way of living. Our submission is our offering to God in response to what He has done for us. It is not a quick way out of a tight spot but rather a commitment to endure any hardships that may come and to enjoy all that we have given. Submission acknowledges that God knows more about the situation and we are going to trust Him to help us through.
There is, however, a small catch to our submission - we have to do it willingly. Saying we will submit grudgingly is like not submitting at all. We have to give our consent not only to God's plan but to all He asks us to do.
Consider - Submit - Consent
They make up a purposeful approach to life that when connected to God's mercy and grace will transform our lives and our families as well as impact our world.
Think about what you are doing, choose to submit to God and do it with joy.
